Nanoman Product Videos
Nanoman fabric water proof coating protects fabrics and textiles from water, dirt, contaminants and stains, whilst remaining totally invisible. It does not affect the fabric’s appearance, its ability to breathe, its colour, or feel. Superior fabric protection surrounds every fibre and as a result, dirt cannot adhere to the material and liquid cannot be soaked up by the fibres. Nanoman’s fabric water repellent coating ensures liquids are repelled from treated fabric and textiles.
In ideal conditions a single treatment of Nanoman fabric waterproof coating could last up to three years. Assuming average use and cleaning, the following is a guide:
- Clothing: 3 to 6 months (with mild, pH neutral washing).
- Shoes and bags: 12 months.
- Carpet and furniture: dependent on use and traffic: 1 to 2 years.
- Awnings, Umbrellas and Marquees: 2 to 3 years.

1. How does Nanoman Fabric + Textile work?
Nanoman Fabric + Textile contains specifically modified functional nanoparticles that self-assemble and produce a two-dimensional net matrix on the fabric’s fibres. The surface is then hydrophobic (water repellent). Water simply beads and rolls off the coated surface taking dirt and other impurities with it.
2. How do I apply Nanoman Fabric + Textile?
Application may differ depending on the material involved. In all cases, please ensure that the surface is clean and dry. In the case of carpets, you should thoroughly clean and vacuum before applying.
Spray evenly over the entire surface from a distance of about 30cm until it looks slightly damp.
For leather, please then wipe in with a clean lint free cloth to ensure a good even coverage.
For carpets, gently rub the coating into the fibres using a brush or squeegee. Then, after 5-10 minutes apply a second coating.
All coated items should be left for 24 hours before using to allow for the coating to dry and become fully bonded with the fabric.
Nanoman Fabric + Textile cannot be applied to materials that are already coated with a fabric protection or where the materials themselves are designed to be water resistant.
3. What makes Nanoman different from other fabric enhancements?
Traditional treatments use chemical coatings to give the textiles performance characteristics. Instead of overwhelming the fabric with a heavy coating, Nanoman coatings are enhanced through the use of nanotechnology – tiny molecules that permanently attach to fibres without clogging the fabric weave to add superior performance without compromising the look, feel or comfort of the fabric.
4. Will Nanoman harm my surfaces?
Definitely not. In fact, Nanoman coating creates a protective barrier that will actually strengthen the fibre surface. This barrier is only 100-150 nanometres thick, which is invisible to the human eye. Nanoman is UV resistant and will not affect the haptic of the fibre.
5. What is the durability of Nanoman Fabric + Textile?
The durability depends on several factors, such as the frequency of use or wear and environmental factors. Items subject to heavy use and cleaning, such as carpets and clothing, will be protected for up to 6 months. Items such as furniture, awnings, marquees and other coverings will generally be protected for up to 2 years. We recommend that you re-apply Nanoman Fabric + Textile, in accordance with these time frames in order to provide continuous protection.
6. Is the sealant Toxic?
Nanoman Fabric + Textile has been tested by an independent institute and was designated biologically safe and harmless to the environment. Nanoman Fabric + Textile is a water-based product that is not harmful to skin. Nanoman products are all non-silicone based and contain no fluorocarbons or fluoropolymers.
Nanoman Fabric and Textile is water based (therefore no risk of catching fire), it has been certified as Food Safe and tested by the Hohenstein Textile Testing Institute in Germany – the leading test lab of this type in the world. Nanoman Fabric + Textile coating met all the requirements for an ECO-Passport (world standard) and is approved for the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 which is a global classification. This classification is the highest possible in terms of ensuring its safety.

7. What are the recommended cleaning instructions for garments protected with Nanoman?
Wash the garment as you would any other garment, following the washing instructions provided on the manufacturer’s label. Maximum recommended water temperature for washing is 40° C. Only a little washing powder is needed, because the fibres are not as dirty. Please only use pH neutral washing detergents if possible. Fabric softeners and dry cleaning are not recommended for Nanoman treated fabrics. The chemicals found typically in dry cleaning solutions contaminate the fabric and can negatively affect performance of Nanoman Fabric + Textile.
8. Do I have to coat textiles on both sides?
No. Just coat the exterior surface that you are wishing to protect.
9. Can I dry coated textiles in a tumble dryer?
Yes, tumble dryable textiles can be put into a tumble dryer without damaging the coating.
Nanoman Fabric + Textile is a very eco friendly product. The “Active” Nano ingredient in this coating (as for all our coatings) is Silica Dioxide (SiO2), one of the most abundant materials on the planet. The carrying agent for the nano particles is distilled water. Very safe, very clean!
Nanotechnology products are really the next generation to currently existing waterproofing. Nanoman products are non-silicone based and free of fluorocarbons and fluoropolymers. The Nano coating itself is invisible and UV stable (won’t degrade due to sunlight). It will not effect the look or feel of the textile nor it’s ability to breathe. On non-washable items, such as furniture, it will retain it’s super-hydrophobic effect for up to 2 years (assuming it is applied properly). On materials subject to a lot of friction, e.g. car seats, and carpets, we’d recommend re-application after 12 months. On washable items, it will remain effective for up to 10 washes and possibly longer on some materials. It has also been tested against bacteria growth and found to actually reduce bacterial growth by up to 65% (w.r.t. staphylococcus aureus).
In terms of coverage, we usually recommend anywhere between 80-100 mls per square metre (equating to about 10 square metres per litre of product). This is obviously dependent upon the type and absorbency of the material involved. For large areas, we would recommend using a HVLP Sprayer to get a good even coverage. For smaller areas, e.g. furniture, clothes, shoes, a spray bottle should be used to ensure proper coverage.
Application is very easy, however it is important that the surface to be treated is clean and dry and free of any other coatings as this will interfere with the bonding of the nano particles to the fibres of the fabric or textile.
The nature of this coating is to protect against liquid spills and potential stains. It stops liquids from soaking in and marking the material and gives the owner time to clean them up. Marks can be removed simply by dabbing with a damp cloth leaving no trace.
